Number Two: The second aspect of our super-successful weight loss program is what we call "Fat-Burning Metabolics". What that means is that we take everything into account that may be causing your weight loss problem - in fact, we leave no stone unturned in that endeavor. We work very closely with you to balance your hormones, including your thyroid hormones. (Note: you may have been told your thyroid is "normal", but that very well may not be the case and may be the reason why you still have trouble losing weight.) In addition, we look at fat-burning hormones and fat-storing hormones. When your body produces more fat-storing hormones than fat-burning hormones, this results in your body holding on to fat and being resistant to various weight loss attempts.
Number Three: The third aspect is known as "Functional Endocrinology", and what it is the delicate relationship among your endocrine/hormonal glands.
Let's briefly discuss each organ/gland individually, but keep in mind they have a role with each other.
Thyroid: Thyroid hormone controls your metabolic rate; it runs how fast or how slow your body works. If thyroid function is too slow, your body will run too slow - leading to difficult weight loss and low energy. (Sound familiar?) Other symptoms include depression, insomnia, constipation, dry skin, low sex drive, etc. All are symptoms of a low-functioning thyroid gland.
And the thyroid connects functionally to the other organs/glands. Let's explore those connections right now.
Liver: The thyroid hormone converts to active thyroid hormone in the liver. The liver also detoxifies the body of many toxins, and many women with weight issues have trouble detoxifying. With that in mind, sometimes the liver needs to be addressed in order for weight loss to occur.
Gonads: In the female, these are the ovaries. The ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen is a fat-STORING hormone, so if you have too much estrogen, then losing weight will be difficult, no matter how much you exercise and diet. And progesterone is a relaxing hormone, so if progesterone is low, you may be tense and more prone to stress-related snacking. Can you now see how the ovaries can play a big role in your weight loss?
Gonads: In the male, these are the testes. The testes produce testosterone. And testosterone NEEDS to be in balance with all the other hormones. Balance is the key to health and well-being, and the key to experiencing healthy weight loss.
Pancreas: This is the gland largely responsible for blood sugar balance. What I find is that many people with weight issues have concurrent blood sugar imbalance. If blood sugar is too high, it converts to fat. And, blood sugar issues cause problems with too much insulin, which is a fat-STORING hormone. If insulin is high, you'll never lose weight.
Pituitary: This is a gland, located in the brain, which has an effect not only on the thyroid, but on the female hormone system as well. Bottom line is, these glands work hand-in-hand with each other, and all the glands must be supported nutritionally.
Hypothalamus: Think of the hypothalamus as our "weight loss set point". When the hypothalamus is working properly, our weight is "set" at the proper weight, but when that gland's function goes out of whack, the set-point gets set too high, and we stay at a higher weight. With proper nutritional supplements and diet, the hypothalamus can be re-set to a more healthy weight. I bet you can't wait!
Adrenals: The adrenal glands play a huge role in your weight. The adrenals are the stress glands, and when do you tend to crave food the most? When you're feeling stressed, and so healthy adrenals are essential when trying to lose weight. The adrenals also play a big role in sleep patterns, and energy levels.
